Does anyone drink in this country drink Heineken any more? I certainly don't know anyone that does, apart from me occasionally. I was having a chilli and taco evening a couple of years ago and Mr Patel up the road told me not to bother with those overpriced Mexican beers, as he had a very good deal on some imported Dutch Heineken at 99p a bottle, and very good it was too. I still get the odd bottle or two, most refreshing on a summer evening.

My dad tells me it used to be a big session lager in the seventies and eighties. It had really good advertising he said, but back then the beer was always piss poor, so I suppose people eventually got fed up.

Now the beer seems to be OK, but the ads are real rubbish. This one looks like something that has been cobbled together to run all over Europe, and it seems to be telling us that prats drink Heineken. I'm sure that wasn't what they meant to say, but for me at least the message is coming through loud and clear.

Personally it won't effect my Heineken buying habits, but if it does run in this country it could put off a lot of more impressionable potential customers.
